Alternative fuel vehicles

Vehicles powered by a source other than the combustion engine or using a clean fuel mixture in order to reduce emissions are considered alternative fuel vehicles. Alternative fuels include low-sulfur diesel, biodiesel, compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, and ethanol. Vehicles powered by fuel cells, hydrogen, or electricity are being developed to achieve substantial environmental benefits and to improve energy security.
